  1. Hi 🙂 I’m doing a article about psychology-relevant travel destinations. Do you have any suggestions? (:

    • Hi Karen: Thanks so much for your question. I think that the question of psychology-relevant travel destinations is an interesting one. For myself, when I was travelling last year, it was important for me to add in travel where I felt I was doing meaningful work and making some kind of contribution that could make a difference. I think that any destination could be psychologically-relevant. Going to a place to engage in reflection, volunteer with local populations or challenge yourself physically can all have a impact on mind, spirit and body. For myself, my travel allowed for the opportunity to widen my perspectives of the world, provided me with completely different cultural experiences, challenged beliefs, and got me out of my comfort zone. All of these things had a psychological impact on me. In advance of my travels, I had given a lot of thought to what kind of experiences I wanted to have and specifically looked at those that would be very meaningful to me.

I hope that this answers your question. Feel free to ask additional ones. Apologies for my delay in responding. I hope that it is information that you can still use. Regards, sonya

  2. Hola, Sonya from Canada
(where in Canada are you? I live in Calgary, AB)

I walked my Camino in a similar way – in 2011 it took me 23 days to start in Logrono and I stopped on km 0 in Finisterra (yes, very long days). Last July I made up the missing part – from SJPP to Granon, (yes, it was past Logrono, but it was may favourite alberque; and then I walked back to Najera, where I volunteered for 2 weeks). This time I took my time, connected with people, walked 250 km in 13 days. I loved both experiences, and they were like two different Caminos. I’m going back to Spain this summer too.
If you would like to hear more, or if you have questions I will be happy to connect with you. (I found your post on the Camino forum).
    Cheers
    Marianna

    • Hey Marianna: Thanks so much for your email. I am glad that you had a chance to get to my blog. I am still in a reflective mode in regards to what I wish to do for my vacation. I am leaning towards a return to the Camino quite heavily. It was such a wonderful experience and I would love to complete the first bit from SJPP to Burgos. I am curious about your journey as I will only have about 14 days to do the distance. The distance is about 300 km that I wish to cover. You walked and took your time to cover 250 km in 13 days. i would love to chat about how you did that, what your pace and distances were each day. If you are interested in connecting to share experiences, I would be interested in doing that.
      Let me know. Regards, Sonya
