Nepal 2012 – Images of Eclectic Beauty

I love this quote by Kahil Gibran.   It leads me to reflect on the question “what is beauty?”   For me, it is such an expansive term.  I know I am in the presence of beauty from the way I feel inside.  In the presence of beauty, I feel moved, touched, and experience a sense of awe.  I am reflective.  When I think about my experiences on the build, I certainly was living and discovering beauty through the people on my Habitat for Humanity team, the family for whom we were building the house, the children in the community who hung around asking for “just one picture please”, the nature, and the seemingly mundane experiences of life. Beauty is truly eclectic.

Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all  living creatures  and the whole of  nature and its beauty. – Albert Einstein

I have been wanting to share some of my favorite pictures from the HFH Nepal Build.  The pictures are of children encountered at the build site and in the neighborhood where we had our lunch each day.  There are images from Chitwan National Park, and of course, the Neupane family that received the house and my HFH comrades.   I love the faces – they are so alive and engaged with the lens.  I used my Canon s95 camera and thanks to Holly Cornell, one of my team members who had the same camera, we learned about a lot of cool features.  It was fun to experiment. I continue to experience beauty.
